Interviews, Reviews, and the Muse

Drum roll, please. I'm happy to say that my interview is up at Novel Journey. If you get a chance to drop by, leave me a comment and let me know what you think! A couple of great reviews came in this week for Promise Me Always - Check them out at - I'm Living Out Loud and Book Splurge. This book has been in my heart for so long. Finally getting it out there where people are actually reading it is FUN!

If you've read it, I'd love to hear from you, or you can always drop by the Promise Me Always page at Amazon and write a short review there!

I've been talking to friends lately about how lonely it is to write. It's like having a year of one-sided conversation with no feedback. Once a book finally hits print and is being read, the comments and reviews are the payoff for that loneliness. They fill in the other side of the conversation. As a reader, I never realized how important that was. As a writer, I treasure every comment, verbal or written. Something else, we've been joking about -- the infamous muse. I have a nonwriter friend who used to ask me if "the muse" had kissed me lately. That muse. He's so flighty. Just when I need him most, he's off kissing someone else. I'm learning to write without him. Like they say, you just glue your bum to the chair and write. And pray. Unlike the muse, God is real and he doesn't leave you when you need him. What a comfort.

Back to the fictional town of Jingle Bells, Arkansas for me. There's trouble brewing there and they need me to straighten it out. Blessings to you and yours!

You mean there's a muse? Where do I sign up for my time? LOL

Great post, Chris. And I'm going to be a groupie and follow you all over the internet as you do your promotion.

Hey, great post! :) And just remember, a writing friend is always an e-mail away! :) ~Lynette

Technorati

I'm joining something called Technorati - Technorati Profile - I'm not really sure how it works, but it's a way of getting more exposure. Since self-promotion is probably the hardest part of being a writer for me, I'm forcing myself to do one promotional thing a week this year. This is it for the week for me. So don't try to get me to do anymore. This is it.

Back to work on Forever Christmas. The good folks of Jingle Bells, Arkansas are hanging in limbo waiting for me. Good night!

COMMENTS:
I'm looking forward to learning more about this. Sometimes being a writer is tough. Not only do we have to continue to produce good books, but we have to worry about all the other stuff like promotion. And to think I used to have the impression that being an author meant only sitting in a chair, glued to a computer screen.

Faithchick guest blog

My good friend Rachel Hauck invited me to guestblog over at faithchick.com.If you get a chance to stop by and check out my entry, leave a comment and let me know what you think! It was fun to be a faithchick for a day.

I'm hard at work on a Christmas romantic comedy that will release in September. It's a fun story to write. But with chicken pox at our house, I'm having a little trouble concentrating. Guess that makes me a true "faithchick", huh?

Praying for you!!

Promise Me Always

Promise Me Always is finally here. :) My newest release arrived amid all the holiday hubbub and I barely noticed, but now that the holidays are over. . .IT'S HERE! My first trade fiction book, longer than my others and more . . .me. My life is nothing like Allie's (the heroine of Promise Me Always) but I can relate to her on so many levels. She's a woman who wants to give her kid's a good life, but at the same time raise them to love and honor God and their fellow man. She has hopes and dreams. She hits roadblocks, but she laughs, cries, and prays her way through them. And with God's help, she gets through them. Or around them.

I'm signing Promise Me Always, as well as Arkansas, at the Jonesboro, Arkansas Barnes & Noble (located in the new Turtle Creek Mall) next Saturday, January 13th from 3 to 5. Booksignings are so unpredictable. I'm praying people will actually show up.

Happy NEW Year! May all your dreams come true!
