The best webmistress in the world

Did you all see what my beautiful wonderful webmistress did?? She updated my featured book. . .AND added ARKANSAS to my BOOKS page. Just because she read my blog! YAY!! Dianna (aka MangyCat) -- You're the best! (I'm going to email you as soon as I find your email address!)

Another looooong day at the Lynxwiler house. Just got home after 2 hours of ball practice and then supper out again! That could get to be a habit. (Eating out, I mean.) My sis and fellow author, Jan, and her husband Steve came to visit tonight. They really came to go to the car auction, but since it's in our town, they also came to visit. We enjoyed seeing them, even though it was only for a short time.

No writing today at all, though. And I can't afford very many days like that. 2k a day is my goal Monday thru Friday, weekends off. Of course, if I don't get my words M-F, then I have to make that up on the weekend. Tomorrow (see? I'm getting used to blogging every day!) I'll post the cover of my December '06 release, PROMISE ME ALWAYS. That's the book I'm working on now, so that will get me in the mood to WRITE, WRITE, WRITE!

Kudos tonight to my very talented chick lit/mom lit writer friends, Rachel, Tracey, and Susie! I love to read your books, girls. So keep 'em coming.

Until tomorrow (hopefully!)

I need to update my website and my wonderful webmistress aka MangyCat would be glad to do it! Unfortunately, I just don't have time to get the new info all together right now. But it's a crying shame not to at least have a picture of my Arkansas book on here, so I'm going to remedy that right now.

Here's the book I have out now--This anthology includes all four of the McFadden Brother stories in their entirety!

ARKANSAS is available now at a Wal-Mart near you! :) If you don't find it on the shelf, ask for it!

Three days in a row of blogging. This is getting addictive!

Until. . .tomorrow????

I took the liberty and got your pages updated. ;o) Hope you don't mind!

What a day!

I'm beyond wiped out. Got up extra early this morning (see below post--an hour earlier than usual and I really did it!) and took six giggly girls in my vehicle for our school field trip. We really had a good time, singing and playing twenty questions. The Nature Conservancy was amazing! But by the time we got home this afternoon, I was too tired to wiggle. Alas. I had to anyway. Kristianna had ball practice for TWO hours. And after that supper out. YAY! Except we almost fell asleep in our plates. Okay, I did. The others may not have been so ill-mannered.

Stopped by Wal-Mart on the way home and what to my wondering eyes should appear--but TWENTY copies of ARKANSAS. DOUBLE YAY! Almost made the exhaustion go away. Almost. Now it's 10:00 p.m. and I just got home. The bed is calling my name. Loudly.

My dad called today and postponed his gallbladder surgery. He's feeling better right now and has a heart doctor appt in mid-April, so he's going to wait to get his cardiologist's okay for this other surgery. A wise move, I think, IF he doesn't start having bad attacks again right away.

And here's the BIG NEWS!! I BLOGGED TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!!

Who knows? Maybe I'll try for three tomorrow. And I might even make it writing related!

Goodnight! Don't forget to say your prayers!

Shifting Gears

I'm moving from one genre to another this week. Just finished up (with my sisters) the first cozy mystery in our Sleuthing Sisters Mystery series--DEATH ON A DEADLINE. Moving straight into the first book in my Pinky Promise Sisterhood series--PROMISE ME ALWAYS. They are both first person. But that's about it, as far as what they have in common. Death on a Deadline was very focused toward clues and red herrings, suspects and motives. Promise Me Always is a sassy present tense story about a woman following her dream. And the totally-opposite-from-what-she's-looking-for man she meets on her journey. Since this is the first in a series about four friends, I'm having to develop each character more deeply than I normally would a secondary character. Not that all the info I know about them will go into this first book, but I want to stay true to their ultimate motivations and their little idiosyncrasies.

While I'm working on Promise, my sisters Sandy and Jan are plotting and outlining the second Sleuthing Sisters mystery, Death of a Diva. They're keeping me updated and occasionally I have to jump in with an opinion. (I hear you all gasping that I would ever feel compelled to offer my opinion.) Our dad who had quintuple heart bypass surgery back in mid-January is scheduled to have his gallbladder removed Friday morning at 10:15. He turned 85 March 1st but he's a fighter and serves a mighty God so we're trusting everything will be fine. He's just ready to get out of the pain of the frequent attacks. My sisters, and my brother, and I will all probably be at the hospital during the surgery, along with Mama. I'd appreciate your prayers for a speedy recovery for him.

Along with everyone else in the country, we're all stunned by Matthew Winkler's shooting and his wife's subsequent confession. One of my sisters said to me today, "You and Sandy and Jan shouldn't be so surprised. You read murder mysteries all the time and even write them." She was kidding, but I thought about it after we hung up and realized that I can't even imagine how this happened. I'm praying for both families and those precious children.

That's all for now. I have to get up extra early in the morning to drive carpool for the girls and some of their classmates to a school field trip. Going to a Nature Museum an hour or so away. Supposedly they have a room that simulates an earthquake and we'll all learn about the New Madrid fault, which runs a little too close to us for comfort. So I guess we'll be "all shook up." OH, and lest I forget, they're supposed to have a skunk for us to pet, too. Joy.

Peace out.

Confessions of a Sporadic Blogger (and a plain old cup of joe)

I mean to blog regularly. But then life gets in the way. My 84 yo dad had quintuple heart bypass surgery (That's five, right?) and I met one deadline with another one coming up on me like an out of control semi-truck. My 85 yo mom had chest pains and we had to rush her to the hospital. My computer crashed! Totally. The list could go on. But I don't want to bore you after I've been gone so long. :)

I've missed you. Even hard at work on Death on a Deadline with my sisters, Jan and Sandy, I've missed you. (Is that an apt title or what?) There's something cathartic about writing words that don't count toward a deadline. Words that don't have to be edited. (much) To be able to tell you that my dad is doing fantastic. Just celebrated his 85th b'day this week. And my mom is doing well, too. The writing is getting easier since I've gotten on something of a schedule. My computer man saved all my documents, etc. even though we had to reload all the programs. And I ordered me a Dell laptop which should be here SOON.

There's a coffee test going around. Have you taken it? I did. Turns out ---

You Are a Plain Ole Cup of Joe

But don't think plain - instead think, uncomplicated
You're a low maintenance kind of girl... who can hang with the guys
Down to earth, easy going, and fun! Yup, that's you: the friend everyone invites.
And you're dependable too. Both for a laugh and a sympathetic ear.
What Kind of Coffee Are You?

I think that probably sums me up. But you go take it and come back and tell me what kind you are, please? I want to know if I'm the only Plain Old Cup of Joe around.

Hope you're all having a fantastic day!

Hey! I'm Zoey Hardy.Tracey Bateman told me about you. I just finished reading her book "Leave it to Claire" and I loved it!!! I was telling her how I'd never read Christian novels before because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to relate to them. It's because I attend a Church of Christ and she said that YOU DO TOO!! I was just shocked to know that anyone else would know about the type of church I attend. I mean, more people confuse it with being Morman. haha So she told me to look up your books as well and that's what I was doing. And I came across your quiz on coffee ... I'm a cappuccino by the way. haha It was funny because that really IS me. I'm very girly girly. LOL Anyway, I'm also a writer ... I just got a book published and the second one is coming out this summer. My books are on teenagers ... and they have nothing to do with church because I wasn't sure how to put that in there. So my characters are basically hetheans. The series is called "Teens in Trouble" maybe thats why they're always in trouble. ha! But anyway, thanks for your time and I'm going to get one of your books ... it's amazing that suddenly I'm reading things I never thought I would. :)
Zoey

I'm a Cappuccino

You're fun, outgoing, and you love to try anything new.
However, you tend to have strong opinions on what you like.
You are a total girly girly at heart - and prefer your coffee with good conversation.
You're the type that seems complex to outsiders, but in reality, you are easy to please.

That's all pretty accurate except the girly girl thing. But the whole complex to outsiders but in reality easy to please thing is so dead on.

Glad you're blogging again... of course one post does not mean you're blogging again. :-p you'll have to string a couple posts together in a short period. LOL

Glad your mom and dad are doing good.

Hey, girl! Glad to hear the story's coming along. :) And that your parents are too. Love ya~

Oh. Um. I forgot to say. I'm a "plain old cup of joe." Snort. And I said I liked flavored coffee. Go figure.
