ACFW CONFERENCE - 2006 HIGHLIGHTS

ACFW CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Hmm. . .there were so many. I've attended ACFW/ACRW conferences every year since the beginning and one thing I know I can count on when I go -- no year is ever the same as the year before.

Even though I'm sure I'll leave something out, here are a few of my highlights in no particular order:

Getting to spend lots of fun time with my close friends, Candice Speare and Susan Downs.

Hanging out with a cool group of kindred souls both Friday night and Saturday night, laughing, talking, partly about writing, and partly about everything else in the world.

Liz Curtis Higgs was a definite highlight for me. Every word out of her mouth blessed me. I ordered the CDs of the whole conference and I can't WAIT to hear her talks again! I could so relate to everything she said.

Lisa Samson's humble spirit stuck with me long after I left her class. Her transparency is incredible.

I loved the Barbour author dinner. Kudos to an amazing publishing company for knowing how to make us feel special. Thanks Joanne, Becky, and Susan, and all the folks in Uhrichsville!

The Mystery Theater skit we did at the dinner was so much fun. Janice Thompson wrote this witty parody and even though I'd read it beforehand, I laughed all the way through the performance.

Running into Jean Kincaid in the lobby and swapping stories, sympathy, and prayer promises. Catching up a little with Linda Fulkerson. And Pamela Griffin. And a second with Lynette Sowell. Uh-oh, shouldn't have started naming names. I enjoyed meeting so many new friends and renewing so many precious friendships. You know who you are. ;)

OH! And the woman who sat by Sandra Robbins at the same table as me at lunch and said she reads my blog!!! I didn't know people actually read this. (Just kidding. For the most part.) I'm so sorry I can't remember her name. (If you're reading this and it was you, leave me a comment, please.)

Sleeping in that ultra comfortable Marriott bed. I want to order one of those for my house!!

And then after the conference, impromptu brainstorming with Rach and Suz. What would I do without you guys?

I'm brain mush tonight and can't think of more but I know there are many. Maybe I'll do a part two later.

One constant for me that has been there through all the years was missing this year. My dear friend Tracey Bateman didn't attend due to other responsibilities and WE MISSED HER TERRIBLY! (Waving at Tracey)

TA-DA!

COMMENTS:
Great post Chris! I loved spending what little time I had with you. Next year, I get the small room but BIG fellowship time!

Love you, Rachel

My dear friend, Chris. I loved hanging out. Laughing, talking. And meeting your other friends, like Rachel. What fun to be girls and giggle.

Great post, Chris. I missed brainstorming with you guys!!!!

Hey Christine! I can't believe we were BOTH at ACFW and I didn't SEE YOU! Not. one. single. time. Now that I've read this post and am learning that you were there, after all, it makes me wonder how many other folks were actually there that I missed. Hmmm...Amazing, isn't it? We've grown (literally) by leaps and bounds and that's a good thing!

Just read "An Ozark Family Christmas" and I will read more of your work as soon as I find it.
