Guestbook comments, booksignings, and such
If you've signed my guestbook with encouraging words, you have no idea what a blessing you are to me! Thank you so much. Tomorrow morning I have a booksigning at Wal-Mart in Paragould, Arkansas. I'm nervous, plus I'm wrestling with a deadline, so encouraging words are extra special right now. What do you do at a booksigning if no one shows up? Tune in tomorrow night and maybe I won't be able to tell you! I wish I'd done more promotion, but my great bro-in-law (Hi, Steve!) said he saw an ad flyer for my booksigning in the Wal-Mart 30 miles away (in Jonesboro.) So maybe Wal-Mart is doing enough for both of us! Our Wal-Mart has been carrying my book (ARKANSAS) since it first came out in March, but it seems like they're always sold out of it. A good thing, I know, but when I tell people, "Oh, you can get it at Wal-Mart" and then it's not there when they go, I always feel a little like they think, Yeah, right. Anyway, yesterday Kevin went in there and they had like SIXTY copies. I think they're serious about not selling out.
Next Saturday, another booksigning at Wal-Mart at Batesville. A little closer to home this time. Paragould is about an hour and a half away, but it's special to me because I met Kevin there when we were both students at Crowley's Ridge College. (back in 1980-81)
So much has happened since I last blogged. Lost a precious uncle and a very dear cousin/friend. Proverbs 116:15 says "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." I take comfort in that.
Peace to all of you.

COMMENTS:
I wanted to stop by and tell you how much I loved your book "Arkansas". I actually picked it up at the Wal-Mart in Paragould when were there on vacation visiting my husbands family the first week of May. I was looking for something to read and thought it would be neat to read about Arkansas since we were there. When I got into the book, I realized it was about the area we were in. My husband grew up all around Greene County so I would ask him where things were. We went up to Mammonth Springs and several other places you mention. I wish I had know about your book signing sooner! I would have sent my book to my brother-in-law and had him take it in to the book signing. Thanks so much for a great book!

How can I get a signed copy without traveling to Batesville? I would like it for a nephew who has three brothers. His mother passed away May 3, 2006. He was in a small airplane crash June 14. He is in the hospital in Little Rock and has multiple injuries. Let me know how to contact you or the Jonesboro Walmart.
